Deep Ellum Blues- I’ve been hangin’ in Deep Ellum since the 90’s.  It had seemed like for a while the gem of the Dallas music scene was deteriorating into a ghost town, until recently.  There has been so much development in the area that the people are demanding their artists and musicians perform where they can experience them.  Deep Ellum is experiencing a renaissance and we are damn proud to representin’!

Lyrics

Deep Ellum
I
Last year I went to Dallas
to have a natural ball
But the streets was empty
Seemed like the boogie
up and gone
I was all alone on
Elm street, where the Blues once called home.
II
But now the bars are open
Got BBQ and Gator Too
Hashbrown on harmonica
T-Bone’s Blues
o Run and tell ‘em
There’s music (back) in Deep Ellum

                   Deep Ellum

I
Last year I went to Dallas to have a natural ball
But the streets was empty Seemed like the boogieup and gone
I was all alone onElm street, where the Blues once called home.
II
But now the bars are open
Got BBQ and Gator Too
Hashbrown on harp T-Bone’s Blues
So Run and tell ‘em The Blues is in Deep Ellum
III
The van is loaded
The band is too
It’s Saturday night
Time to play these Blue
Run and tell ‘em
We’re playing in Deep Ellum

IV
Walked up Commerce
Came down Main
Tried to buy a shot of whiskey
All they had was cocaine
Run and tell 'em
The Blues is in Deep Ellum

(The line about cocaine is a nod to Blind Lemmon Jefferson)
